Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, met with the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa. After the meeting, Issa said that his country "only wants the interest of the Shiite environment and the return of the south to its owners." He added: "We do not know how to reach a conclusion with a section of the Shiite community, as they do not understand that their interest lies in understanding what their responsibilities are." He addressed the Shiite community, saying: “We only want your interests.” Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in his office with the US Ambassador to Lebanon, and with the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who are leading the talks between Israel and Lebanon.
